Have you and your family been searching for that perfect budget-friendly activity this winter? There are plenty of fun, educational activities and venues to explore around Philadelphia. And as an added plus, none of these events will break your wallet! Some even provide a discount for American Heritage members.
Here are five budget-friendly events you should check out around Philadelphia this winter:
1. Celebrate Black History Month at the Museum of the American Revolution
Location: Philadelphia, PA (101 S. 3rd Street, Philadelphia, PA 19106)
Price: A family four pack of tickets, when purchased online, is $59. American Heritage Credit Union members can purchase tickets at their local branch for $10.

Celebrate Black History Month this February at the Museum of the American Revolution. They have a full slate of educational programs and performances happening all month long. Stroll through two unique galleries highlighting Black art from this time period while receiving an in-gallery talk with a Museum educator. The Museum also offers first-person theatrical performances with figures from this era who teach visitors what life was like during the Revolutionary period.

2. Attend a Philadelphia Flyers or 76ers Game
Location: Wells Fargo Center (3601 S. Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA 19148)
Price: Ticket prices vary. American Heritage Credit Union members may purchase discounted tickets for select games, which includes a donation to the Kids-N-Hope Foundation.
Cheer on the Philadelphia Flyers & 76ers as they continue through the heart of their seasons! The next discounted 76ers game is Saturday, February 22nd, and the next discounted Flyers game is Thursday, March 13th.
If you do decide to attend a game, know that you’ll also be supporting the Kids-N-Hope Foundation Foundation. A portion of each ticket purchased goes towards the Foundation, which raises funds to support local pediatric health and life services, namely music therapy.

3. Ice Skating at the Blue Cross RiverRink Winterfest
Location: Blue Cross RiverRink (101 S. Christopher Columbus Boulevard, Philadelphia, PA 19106)
Price: Skate admission is $5. Skate rental is $12.
If you’re seeking a fun, winter activity for the whole family, ice skating at the Blue Cross RiverRink is always an excellent option! The rink welcomes skaters of all levels to glide across the ice. Skate rentals are available, and there are Skate Helpers available for those who require the extra support.
Even if skating isn’t your thing, there are still plenty of amenities at Blue Cross RiverRink. The Independence Blue Cross RiverRink Winterfest contains a retro arcade, a heated lounge, and cabins available to rent, alongside ice skating. This fun event also has great food and drinks, catered by the likes of Chickie’s & Pete’s and Cantina La Martina.

4. Presidents' Day Weekend at the Museum of the American Revolution

If you’re looking for an activity while the kids are home from school on President’s Day (Monday, February 17th), consider a visit to the Museum of the American Revolution. From Saturday, February 15th through Monday, February 17th, you can expect to enjoy a slate of educational and insightful programs relaying the life of our first president, George Washington.
Throughout the weekend, you can watch a film focused on Washington’s War Tent, one of the enduring artifacts of the Revolution which served as Washington’s command center during the Revolutionary War. The Museum will also have hands-on crafts throughout the weekend, where visitors can make their own inaugural button or sash.

5. Village of Chocolate at Peddler's Village
Location: Peddler's Village (100 Peddler's Village, Lahaska, PA 18931)
Price: Ticket prices vary by event. Tickets for the Chocolate-Covered Workshops are $8.
Peddler’s Village is bringing sweetness to last all month long! Stop by Peddler’s Village to enjoy one of their many events happening during their Village of Chocolate event. Whether it’s something the whole family can enjoy or a date night out, there is something sweet that’s sure to please everyone!
On Sunday, February 16, two chocolate experts will hold Chocolate-Covered Workshops where attendees will learn techniques for working with chocolate, including dipping, decorating, molding, and painting. You can purchase tickets for this event here.
If you’re in search of more adult-oriented events and are a fan of food pairings, several Peddler’s Village restaurants are offering tastings in February. Hart’s Tavern has a chocolate tasting in collaboration with Free Will Brewing, while Nissley Vineyards has a macaron, truffle, and wine pairing event.
