IDCheck: A New Layer of Security for Shared Branching
To enhance security and protect against fraud, credit unions participating in shared branching are using a new verification tool designed to confirm your identity before completing transactions. This streamlined process helps verify your government-issued ID and matches your information with your home credit union’s records—ensuring a safer, more seamless experience.
Follow the Steps Below:
- Visit verify.coop.org
- Click the consent box, then enter your credit union’s name. Once you start typing you can select your institution from the dropdown menu.
- Enter your member number and the last four digits of your social security number.
- Consent to verify your identification. Scroll down and click the consent button.
- Scan your ID and snap a selfie. You will need to take a picture of the front and back of your government-issued ID. Saving this validation will make future visits faster.
- Receive a 6-digit access code on your phone and provide it to the teller to complete your transaction. The verification code will remain valid for 20 minutes.
For returning visits, the process is even easier! If your ID is unexpired and you’re using the same device, you’ll simply scan the QR code, enter your account details, and receive your access code right away. If you’re unable to complete IDCheck, don’t worry—transactions can still be processed using standard verification methods but will be limited to protect your account.
