American Heritage Credit Union furthered its global initiatives to support the citizens of Ukraine through an associate-led donation drive of goods and supplies for Ukrainian refugees. Partnering with Ukrainian National Women’s League of America, Inc (UNWLA), these donations are the latest efforts made by American Heritage to provide support to civilians in Ukraine who have been displaced or injured due to recent events.

American Heritage associates collected high demand items including first-aid supplies, outerwear, non-perishable foods, toiletries, diapers, and baby formula and food. Thousands of items were collected during the two-week drive through the credit union and were donated to UNWLA, who will ship items directly to organizations and families in Eastern Europe.

American Heritage’s President & CEO Bruce K. Foulke also recently completed a humanitarian visit to Poland, which borders Ukraine and has seen a surge in refugees from Ukraine over the last two weeks.  In addition to delivering medical supplies to refugees, Foulke met with credit union leaders from Poland and Ukraine to identify opportunities to provide immediate monetary, logistics and equipment support to Ukrainian refugees, as well as longer term programs to help restore economic development to Ukraine.

“I am devastated by the events unfolding in Eastern Europe and the number of lives it has impacted,” stated Bruce K. Foulke, President & CEO of American Heritage. “Everyone at American Heritage is doing their part to help our fellow global citizens: Several of our American Heritage associates are already longtime volunteers at UNWLA, and our associates have quickly mobilized and collected thousands of items on their behalf that will have an immediate and direct impact on many people.  In addition, our Board and I are working with our credit union movement partners to provide much-needed funding for transportation and logistics programs that will hasten the medical and housing crisis that so many Ukrainian refugees now face.  Credit unions are about people helping people, and I am very proud and grateful that our associates are so generous in this time of need.”

“We are thankful to the American Heritage team for raising awareness and quickly collecting so many critical goods to help the people of Ukraine,” stated Olga Mykhaylyuk, UNWLA Philadelphia Regional Council President. “American Heritage understands that the Ukrainian community plays an important part in our own local neighborhoods here in Southeastern Pennsylvania, and we appreciate the enthusiasm that their employees and leadership have shown in supporting our fellow citizens."
